Harmony Cooperative Grocery Inc. operates according to the internationally recognized Cooperative Principles and exists to provide cooperative commerce for the greater good of our community. The Cooperative defines our community as the following:

- Larger cooperative community

There will be vibrant local commerce in the community, with a retail business that provides an outlet for local growers and producers and which establishes as a priority doing business with:

There will be an organization that strives to protect and restore the environment by:
- Stocking socially responsible and humane products.
- Following LEED guidelines in all building projects and equipment purchases within economic feasibility.
- Reducing the environmental footprint in it’s operations.
There will be an organization that provides and promotes affordable healthy eating options in the store and in the deli for all of its customers.
Our community will have access to educational opportunities about the benefits of locally and organically sourced products, cooperative principles, and nutritious eating.
There will be a source of employment that actively engages staff in the organization’s decision making process, and rewards them with competitive compensation.
There will be a profitable business, with ever increasing membership, that returns economic value to the community and grows according to community needs.
On October 28th the membership gathered at the United Methodist Church meeting room. Harmony’s staff prepared a fantastic tex mex dinner for our owners and it was a wonderful chance to see familiar faces and a few new faces as well. Board treasurer Mary Overlie led a great discussion on ways Harmony could strengthen the community’s connection to local and organic foods prior to the start of the official meeting. The question is also posted to Harmony’s Facebook page so if you have some ideas head over to FB and post on our wall.
Harmony’s Frozen Department received quite a boost from the expansion. The new freezer units are beautiful, huge and easy to use. It was even easier to fill them up with all of our already popular staples and the great suggestions from our very involved shoppers!
