Invest in Bemidji-Make a Member Loan to the Co-op by William Naylor, Harmony Board Member
Summer is here and the local produce is pouring in. The lettuce boom is going steady from Farmucopia, staff members Mike and Marina's CSA Farm. The strawberries have come and gone. Greg Oja is bringing us garlic, all kinds of gorgeous Asian-style greens. Don't forget to try Elvin Martin's kohlrabi for a delicious, crisp treat. The varieites of local produce are perfectly ripe, travel much fewer than 100 miles and are only available as the weather permits!
All year long we supply your kitchen cupboards and family's bellies with many locally procured staples such as maple syrup, wild rice, coffee roasted in Bagley & Duluth, honey, Secret Kitchen dried soup mixes, whole grains and flours. And we keep your fridges full of Blackstar milk, free-range eggs, Minnesota cheeses and organic pork from Oak Post Ranch in Menahga, MN.
The large variety of local products that we carry is not restricted to edible delights either. Our Health & Beauty department carries Stepping Stone soaps, Humble Glory, and Zeller's products. See if you can spot the Eco-Balls wool dryer balls in the vast array of eco-friendly cleaning and household supplies section.
Stop in this month and all year long to examine our selection, try a product created by your neighbor and put your precious dollars to use supporting a "local" economic stimulus!
