Why be a Member/Owner?

Because we’re owned by the people we serve, your interests always come first. We believe in empowering you through good, honest advice about food choices. And we’re glad to share our enthusiasm for food with integrity! We listen to you through the suggestion box, conversations with board and staff, and the annual General Membership Meeting.

As a member, your investment in the business provides the capital needed to finance long-term projects such as building improvements and equipment purchases. Stock investments are not used to pay wages or operating expenses. Actually, your refundable investment will save you money. Harmony Co-op offers case lot discounts, special order privileges, working member opportunities and voting rights. You will also receive our newsletter, The Grapevine, four times a year that has two 10% off coupons. Year-end surplus profits may be returned to members as a patronage rebate.

Perhaps most of all, being a member means being part of a community business model that puts people’s needs before typical corporate profits. We may be one business out of hundreds in the Bemidji area but changing the motive for business by providing a member owned business turns concept in to reality. Come and see what we are all about.
